IMEDMAR leads an EU LIFE project for the conservation of a critically endangered species

The Institute of Environmental and Marine Science Research (IMEDMAR-UCV) will lead one of the new projects of the LIFE program of the European Union (EU). Specifically, the LIFE PINNARCA project aims to contribute to the conservation of the fan mussel (Pinna nobilis), a critically endangered species in the Mediterranean.

Having started in October 2021, LIFE PINNARCA is scheduled to run until December 2024. It is being coordinated and carried out by IMEDMAR-UCV and also by an association comprising IRTA and the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies (IMEDEA-CSIC, Spain), the Murcia branch of Ecologists in Action (Spain), the Paul Ricard Oceanographic Institute (France), the University of Alicante (Spain), the University of the Aegean (Greece), and the University of Naples Federico II (Italy).
